Ruvarashe “Rambo” Maturure inspired Maningi Youth Soccer Academy to a stunning 9–0 victory over Junior in the Under-16 Munhumutapa Challenge at Jerera Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The “Rambo of women’s football” was at the heart of a sparkling attacking performance, combining superbly with Diana and the evergreen, tricky and slippery Tanaka “Jetlinda” Nyamakura. The trio proved a constant threat as Maningi dismantled the Junior defence and thrilled their home supporters with a commanding display.
Soft-spoken coach Talent “The Teacher” Bizeki was delighted with the performance, praising the entire squad for its commitment, discipline and hunger.
The result was another glowing sign that the Maningi project, currently undergoing a rebuilding phase, is gathering momentum. The young players displayed confidence, attacking intent and plenty of promise.
Earlier on the same day, the Under-14 side was also celebrating after travelling to Mucheke B Grounds in Masvingo, where they defeated Christian Juniors 2–0.
It caps a hugely productive week for the academy. On Friday, Maningi registered a commanding 4–0 league victory at Chisamba, making it a week of impressive results across the junior ranks.
The project is clearly moving in the right direction. With sound and sustainable financing, Maningi has the ingredients to nurture a new generation of talent and help restore women’s football to its rightful position. For Maningi, the rebuilding process is gathering pace — and the future is beginning to look very bright.
