History, made in Zaka. Both of Maningi Youth Soccer Academy’s junior girls’ sides have been crowned regional champions in the ZIFA Munhumutapa Challenge Cup — and the Zaka girls are heading to the national tournament to represent Masvingo Province.
The academy put it best in its own words: “Our journey — using our God-given Ten Toes to showcase talent.”
U14 Girls — Provincial Champions
Maningi’s U14 girls won the Munhumutapa Cup provincial title to book their place at the nationals — carrying the flag for Masvingo, and for every rural girl who has ever been told football isn’t for her.
U16 Girls — An All-Maningi Regional Final
The U16 girls matched their younger sisters. The regional final at Jerera Stadium (Mumunda Matito) was a family affair — Maningi Youth Soccer Academy versus Maningi Youth Junior School, both raised in the same academy family. Whoever lifted the trophy, Maningi was champion.
The Flag Passes On
The senior Queens opened the cup run with a famous 1–0 win over Ngezi Platinum Stars — Pretty Chiwara with the goal — before bowing out to Faith Drive Academy in the Round of 16. Now the juniors carry the torch, backed by partners Ten Toes Africa, Stratus IP and the Heart Foundation.
